Well. I just happened to browse the deviantart main page, something I rarely do. And I noticed they have a daily favorites for comics and stuff. And good lord was I fucking disappointed. I mean honestly. What the hell. I'm not saying I should get a favorites BY nO MEAnS!!! (...though honestly...as much as I hate my own work, its still better than the crap that seems to always get the top positions...) but all I'm saying is there's so much better stuff out there...half the stuff isn't even comics, its people who're too stupid to read the category description. Granted that DeviantArt has WAY too many subcategories, but sketches of wolverine do not belong in the comics section...they should be going in the fan art section or some shit...alot of them are clearly just sketches too good lord!!!!!
I mean honestly, I hate to be bashing other people's comics but...c'mon. Sad thing is is that I've seen this person's comics before and I was not impressed the first time either. Expressions taken straight from Invader Zim's Gir (amongst other zim characters), charcters unoriginal looking characters that would take two seconds to draw/shit out. Goddamnit!!!

....AAAARGHH!!! GODDAMnIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THERE IS nO LOVE In THEIR ART!!!! When I look at it there's just no goddamn passion! They're just crapping stuff out just because for some miserable reason it has an audience! I can't imagine this person ever evolving! It's like they don't care! nO LOVE!!!! FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just off the top of my head here's some (comic) people who deserve way more recognition:
, , , ....I could probably come up with a better list if I took the time to look at my watch list, these are just the first people that come to mind....not to mention that Becky Cloonan and other hotshots are on deviantart as well BUT THEY nEED nO FURTHER InTRODUCTIOn!!!....

Ain't it the truth. The only stuff I ever see on the favorites section is Manga, generally poorly drawn, and generally in strip form with embarrassingly bad "internet culture" punchlines.

I'm checking out the people you mentioned.

I agree, Comics should come from the individual not from some rehased "how to draw Manga" Book they bought at Barnes and Nobles. Art should come from inside not because you think it would be funny to sketch out Naruto saying "poop!" of course the poop cartoon would get like a million views and probably daily deviation shortly after.

So Far Deviantart has made me Dislike a lot of the things I used to find funny and/or cool:

Invader Zim, hell any and all things Jhonen
Gorillaz
Most Anime, naruto, evangelion (for the last time! Rei does not have multiple penises!!!) etc
PPG (now it makes me feel dirty)

I'd like to think that no community be it DeviantArt or not would have a real affect on my taste for any specific artist or series/anime/band/comic...but now that you mention it, I wouldn't be caught dead in a Zim or JTHM shirt even though there was a time where I'd love to own a single shirt from either series...its a sad sad thing. It's just all accociated with all these terrible terrible people who just suck all the life and fun out of everything...this goes for most of the things you mentioned...sigh...

It may have it's downsides, but I would of left if it wasn't for good original stuff I have seen here.
